Intern - Full Time (School)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The St. Paul Evangelization Institute is home to three Catholic apostolates. The most well-known apostolate is St. Paul Street Evangelization. We also have a School of Evangelization and a Society of Evangelists. You can learn more at www.stpaulevangelization.com.

We are seeking an energetic, responsible intern to join our growing Catholic apostolate. You will focus on learning how our organization runs, gaining valuable insight into Catholic non-profit work. You will be expected to learn our daily routines and procedures and become part of our Catholic community filled with opportunities for personal, spiritual, and professional growth. You will also work on administrative tasks and help the team for the St. Paul School of Evangelization.

POSITION DETAILS:

  • Full time position for 1 year, renewable
  • Position Location: SPEI National Office, Warren, MI
  • Direct supervisor: COO
  • Direct reports: None
  • Compensation: $250 monthly stipend. We will provide single men with room and board at our national offices. They will become part of the household for religious brothers. They will have access to a shared bathroom (2 men per bathroom) and their own private bedroom. Utilities are covered by the institute, along with a kitchen stocked with food.
  • If the intern needs health insurance, we can provide basic coverage through Samaritan Ministries health share program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.A. or equivalent in theology, pastoral ministry, scripture, or catechetics.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-directed and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Eager to tackle new projects and ideas.
  • Team player with strong emotional intelligence.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate and lead administrative tasks for the St. Paul School of Evangelization.
    • Onboarding new students and maintaining records.
    • Work with school students (online and onsite).
    • Writing school assignments based on the curriculum decided by the school directors.
    • Preparing marketing and advertisements for the school.
    • Serving as a liaison for the host parish where the school is held.
  • Train and work in the front desk and shipping as needed.
  • Learn about street evangelization and evangelize with our teams.
  • Write tracks, handouts, and articles for the website (maintain the blog).
  • Catalogue stories from the street for our website.
  • Potentially research and work on modules for the online school.
  • Work may involve travel and weekend trips from time to time for our events and workshops.
  • Other tasks as agreed upon.

Spiritual Growth Commitment

  • Daily Mass, Holy Hour, and prayer times.
  • Weekly Bible study.
  • Fellowship with the SPEI Community
  • Complete SPEI Curriculum (Introduction to Evangelization, Basic Evangelization Training, Team Leader Training, Basic Catholic Catechism, Evangelical Apologetics, Instructions of St. Thomas Aquinas, Entertaining Angels, and Healing in Evangelization)

SPSE is a grassroots, non-profit organization, dedicated to responding to the mandate of Jesus to preach the Gospel to all nations by taking the Catholic Faith to the streets.     • Onboarding new team leaders and maintaining records in CRM.
    • Working with our School team to create curriculum for street teams.
    • Scheduling podcast with team leaders and high profile Catholic leaders
  • Learn about street evangelization and evangelize with our teams.
  • Work with National Director of Teams to create relevant content for team leaders.
  • Catalogue stories from the street for our website.
  • Work may involve travel and weekend trips from time to time for our events and workshops.

Development Director

POSITION SUMMARY:

The St. Paul Evangelization Institute is looking for a joyful, mature Catholic disciple to work with our team at the national office to promote the advancement of our mission through development activities. SPEI is a transformative ministry that directly engages and shares the Gospel with hundreds of thousands of people through St. Paul Street Evangelization’s 300+ street teams, the St. Paul Society of Evangelists (a religious community), and our School of Evangelization.

The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of the St. Paul Evangelization Institute’s fundraising including, the major gifts program, planned giving, grant writing, mail marketing campaigns, special events, and capital campaigns. The Director works closely with the President in all development and fundraising endeavors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must embrace the mission of the St. Paul Evangelization Institute.
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
  • Have knowledge and experience in fund raising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising.
  • Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and volunteers.
  • Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships.
  • Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
  • Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals.
  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.
  • A bachelor’s degree.
  • 2 years minimum experience in professional fundraising.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them.
  • Establish and grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
  • Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.
  • Build the planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.
  • Direct the annual fund program, including mailings and annual fundraising drives.
  • Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives.
  • Coordinate fund raising special events.
  • Direct employee fundraising drives.
  • Oversee prospect research.
  • Work closely with the President and Executive Administration.
  • Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about the St. Paul Society of Evangelist with the community.
  • Staff Training. We believe that “everyone is a development director” in their own capacities.
  • Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
  • Supervise and collaborate with other fundraising staff, especially our Local Directors of Evangelization.
  • Oversee creation of publications to support fund raising activities.
  • Maintain gift recognition programs.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.
